I've spent most of my life in Delhi, a city known for its extremes – extreme cold, extreme heat, extreme people, and, of course, extremely delicious food. But amidst all these extremes, the transition from cold to warm has always held a special place in my heart. Vasant Ritu, the spring season, brings about a certain magic in the air. The sunsets seem more vibrant, the evening breeze carries a hint of warmth, and the trees adorn themselves in shades of green and gold. For me, this transition signifies more than just a change in weather; it represents a shift in energy, a time for renewal and rejuvenation.

 

I've always believed in the importance of aligning oneself with the rhythms of nature. After all, we are mammals, and like other creatures, our bodies respond to the changing seasons and environments. In winter, when the cold sets in, our focus naturally shifts to warming foods and cozy comforts. And in summer, when the mercury rises, we seek ways to keep our minds and bodies cool and refreshed. But what about Vasant Ritu, the season of spring.

Ayurveda, recognizes this season as a pivotal time for inner balance and rejuvenation. As the days lengthen and temperatures gradually rise, the qualities of Kapha dosha, associated with cold and heaviness, begin to diminish. Simultaneously, the qualities of Vata dosha, linked to dryness and movement, also recede, but gradually.
