- स्व. जैनेन्द्र जी की कहानी ‘तत्सत्’, जिसमें वन के वृक्षों का संवाद था और उस संवाद की परिणति थी तत्सत् में, वही सब सत्ता है’, वह सत्ता हम सब में है और हम ही हद के बाहर भी हैं।व्यपारिक प्रवास के कारण वनों में घूमने के अवसर मुझे बचपन से मिलने लगे। तब गाँवों के आसपास बाग भी घने होते थे, अनेक बागों के नाम ‘अंधियारी बाग’ फूलन बाग, केशरबाग और चार बाग वोदाबाग, फलिहारी बाग हुआ करते थे। आज भी मैसूर कालीकट आदि शहरों के गार्डन (बाग) दर्शनीय है। म प्र., छत्तीसगढ़, उड़ीसा, आसाम और हिमाचल प्रदेशों के अनेकों बागों में अधिक वृक्षों के कारण दिन में भी अंधियारा बना रहता है। गाँव से दो कोस पर जंगल शुरू होता था । जंगल में अधिकतर साल (साखू) और सागौन के बड़े-बड़े, ऊँचे-ऊँचे पेड़ थे उनके नीचे अनेक प्रकार की वनस्पतियों से जमीन ढंकी रहती थी। पैर उनमें धँस- धंस जाता था। बीच-बीच में ऊँची बिमौटियाँ रहतीं|
