In today’s fast-paced world, where health advice is often reduced to quick tips and one-size-fits-all solutions, Ayurveda offers something radically different, a personalized, deeply rooted approach to well-being. Our Rediscovering Ayurveda series has always been about uncovering the human stories behind this ancient science, and in this edition, we speak with Dr. Meenal Pasari , an Ayurvedic practitioner who blends ancient wisdom with modern life realities.

Some journeys begin not in lecture halls but in childhood. For Dr. Meenal Ayurveda entered her life when her father handed her a book that sparked questions modern medicine couldn’t answer. Why some remain ill despite endless tests, why the same treatment works differently for different people, and why emotions often appear as physical pain.

Even as she went on to study conventional medicine, those early impressions stayed with her. She realised something was missing, a deeper layer of understanding that science alone hadn’t touched. Ayurveda became not an alternative, but the missing chapter in the story of healing she was meant to write.

Learning Ayurveda at its Roots

Unlike many who approach Ayurveda later in life, Dr. Meenal immersed herself in its traditional form. Dr. Meenal studied it at the roots through a Gurukul-style schooling, where she didn’t just learn shlokas from classical texts but absorbed them in the rhythm of daily life.

The experience wasn’t limited to memorizing verses. It meant observing how herbs were used in kitchens, how routines followed the sun, how teachers embodied what they taught. Ayurveda wasn’t abstract, it was lived, practiced, and passed down in a way that connected the old with the present.

This foundation gave her an outlook that balances both rigor and flexibility. As she often points out, Ayurveda has always been contextual. What mattered centuries ago may not apply in the same way today, but the principles, balance, awareness and prevention, remain timeless.

Women’s Health and Everyday Rhythms

Women’s health is especially close to Dr. Meenal’s heart. She has seen how modern life often forces women to suppress their natural cycles, treating periods as inconveniences rather than vital indicators of health.

Ayurveda, she explains, views menstruation as a natural cleansing process. Pain, heavy bleeding, or irregularity are signals of imbalance not burdens to be endured. Through herbs, diet, rest, and gentle practices, she helps women reconnect with their rhythms and reclaim energy, mood, and creativity.

Over 2 lakh women have embraced Nari Sondarya Malt to support their menstrual health, boost energy, and feel more balanced and vibrant every day.

A Voice for Garbh Sanskar

If there’s one theme that Dr. Meenal carries with her in every conversation, it is the importance of Garbh Sanskar. For her, this ancient practice is not just about pregnancy rituals. It is about preparing the body, mind, and spirit for the sacred responsibility of creating life.

She explains that Garbh Sanskar is where science and spirituality meet. It includes understanding natural resources for pregnancy, following the Indian 16 sanskars, and building a strong emotional and spiritual bond between husband and wife. “A healthy baby is not just born out of a healthy womb, but out of a healthy relationship and a peaceful environment,” she says.

Her book, Sapne Khuli Ankhon Se, is a reflection of this belief. In its pages, she brings together the wisdom of rituals, family values, healthy relationships, and social awareness, presenting Garbh Sanskar in a way that is both timeless and deeply relevant for today. She encourages not only women but also men to read it, because parenting, in her view, begins with shared responsibility.

Through her practice and her writing, Dr. Meenal is redefining Garbh Sanskar for the modern generation, not as a set of rigid rituals, but as a way to embrace pregnancy with mindfulness, respect for nature, and love for family.

The Mind–Body Connection

For Dr. Meenal, one of Ayurveda’s greatest gifts is how it speaks of the mind and body as one. Modern science has begun to explore this connection, but Ayurveda has recognised it for millennia.

She often highlights how unresolved stress, grief, or anger can manifest physically, as digestive issues, skin flare-ups, or chronic pain. In her consultations, she spends time understanding not just the symptoms but the emotional environment of a person’s life.

This doesn’t mean abandoning other systems of medicine. In fact, Dr. Meenal believes strongly in integration. She explains that while modern medicine excels in emergencies and diagnostics, Ayurveda offers tools for long-term balance and prevention. The two together can create more holistic pathways of care.

Patients as Teachers

For Dr. Meenal, a consultation is never just about diagnosis, it’s about dialogue and listening. She often says her greatest teachers are not only the texts or gurus she studied under, but the patients who walk in with stories no book could capture.

Each person brings their own universe of habits, pain, fears, and resilience. By honoring these lived experiences, she is reminded that Ayurveda isn’t a rigid formula but a living science that reshapes itself for each individual.

A young woman with PCOS may reveal the silent weight of infertility, an elderly man with joint pain the ache of loneliness, and a teenager with skin issues the link between self-image and digestion. For Dr. Meenal, these aren’t case studies but lessons in empathy, humility, and adaptability.

“It’s never one-sided,” she reflects. “While they come to me for healing, they are also shaping me, making me a better listener, a more patient doctor, and above all, reminding me that healing is a shared journey.”

Lifestyle as Medicine

One of the most powerful takeaways from Dr. Meenal’s approach is her insistence that Ayurveda is not a pill, it’s a lifestyle. She guides her patients to focus on the small, consistent habits that have the biggest long-term impact.

From encouraging early bedtimes and mindful eating to balancing work stress with rest, her advice is always practical and sustainable. She knows that in today’s world, strict traditional routines may not be realistic for everyone and instead of imposing them, she helps people adapt Ayurvedic principles to their current realities.

“Main unrealistic cheezein recommend nahi karti. Aapke life ke hisaab se Ayurveda ko fit karna zaroori hai,” she said.
(I don’t recommend unrealistic things. It’s important to fit Ayurveda into your life as it is.)

Beyond the Doctor’s Coat

Dr. Meenal Pasari is more than a doctor; she is a daughter, a creative spirit, and a guide. Her father’s encouragement shaped much of her journey, instilling in her the belief that knowledge is to be shared and lived, not just learned. Growing up in a family deeply rooted in culture and values, she developed an early appreciation for rituals, music, and mindful living, principles that now inform her medical practice.

But there is more to her than the clinic walls. She is a listener, an empath, a writer, and above all, a believer in the power of relationships and community.  Her curiosity and love for storytelling have naturally blended into her teaching, whether guiding patients through Ayurvedic practices or explaining concepts of Garbh Sanskar in simple, practical ways. She finds joy in nurturing relationships, emphasizing love, harmony, and trust, both in families and in the doctor-patient bond.

Her energy is warm, patient, and grounded qualities that shine in every aspect of her life. She is as much a friend and mentor to her patients as she is a doctor, reflecting a philosophy that health is nurtured through both care and connection.

When Dr. Meenal talks about Ayurveda, there’s a calm conviction in her voice, the kind that comes from both deep study and lived experience. She doesn’t see Ayurveda as a list of do’s and don’ts, but as a language your body already speaks. Her job, she says, is to help you hear it more clearly.
