Holi is on a weekday this year, but will still won’t stop us from celebrating the festival of colors? Of course, not. This is one festival wherein we don’t mind getting tired and different hued. But once the celebrations are over, it is time to take on the ideal skin-care routines to nurture and protect our skin.
Holi colors are harsh and difficult to come off from the skin, especially the face. Avoid rigorously rubbing yourself to get rid of the colors. The first step is to wash your face and neck with your regular cleanser. Use cold or tap water. The next step is to use a foaming face wash and lather for 30 seconds before you wash your face off. Next, dip a cotton ball in coconut oil and apply it on your face. Allow it to stay on your skin. You can use a foaming face wash again, or just use a normal cotton ball to remove any extra oil or color. You may apply a moisturizing lotion if the need arises.
Additionally, give your skin some TLC by following the below tips.
Apply Ubtan
Once you’ve got rid of the colors on your face and body, you could make use of ubtans to help soothe your skin. Our Herbal Ubtan is a great beauty aid. Here’s how you can use it:
Mix some powder into your hands. Add:
- Rosewater or Aloe Vera for normal skin
- Milk or Cream for dry skin
- Yogurt or Lemon water for oily skin
to make a wet paste. Apply on moist skin and massage lightly in circular motions. Rinse clean. This will help to lift dead skin and release oil, toxins, and environmental pollutants. Your skin will definitely feel moisturized after using this pack.
Keep the makeup simple
Since your skin has been exposed to harsh, synthetic colors all day long, it is advisable to wear less makeup to avoid skin irritation or reaction. You could use a light moisturizer and compact powder or a BB cream and let your skin breathe. Go back to your usual makeup routine once the Holi colors wear off from your skin.
Wear sunscreen
It is important to apply a good sun cream every two hours to prevent your skin from getting damaged. Holi colors can react with the UV rays and cause irritation. So, remember to apply your sunscreen lotion on your face, neck and on any other exposed body part.
Rub ice to soothe your skin
Since the temperatures tend to soar post-Holi, it becomes necessary to soothe your skin every day to prevent sunburn and dryness. Ice cubes do the needful. They not only help in shrinking pores but also provide relief from the heat. All you need to do is to simply wrap a few ice cubes in a thin cotton cloth and gently rub this on your face and neck. You can let it dry naturally.
