Holi Gulkand Thandai

A refreshing, Ayurvedic Gulkand Thandai made with cooling rose gulkand, soaked nuts, and gentle spices. Naturally sweet, deeply hydrating, and perfect for balancing summer heat while nourishing the body.

Summer builds heat in the body. Digestion feels sharp, skin feels reactive, and thirst increases. Gulkand has been traditionally used to gently cool the system, support digestion, and calm excess heat.

 

This Holi Gulkand Thandai is a nourishing way to enjoy that balance in a glass.

 

Ingredients 

 

 

▪️2 tbsp Amrutam Gulkand

▪️2 cups chilled milk (or almond milk for vegan option)

▪️10 almonds (soaked & peeled)

▪️8-10 pistachios

▪️1 tbsp melon seeds (magaz)

▪️1 tsp poppy seeds (khus khus)

▪️4-5 cashews

▪️3-4 green cardamom 

▪️5-6 black peppercorns

▪️½ tsp fennel seeds (saunf)

▪️1-2 tsp dates paste or honey (optional sweetener)

▪️Few saffron strands (optional)

 

Step-by-Step Method (with images)

 

 

1️. Soak Nuts & Seeds

Soak almonds, pistachios, cashews, poppy seeds, and melon seeds in warm water for 30 - 60 minutes.

 

 

2️. Make Thandai Paste

Blend soaked ingredients with:

▪️cardamom

▪️fennel seeds

▪️black pepper

▪️little milk

Grind into a smooth creamy paste. You can store this in an airtight container in the fridge and use it. 

 

 

3️. Mix the Thandai

In a blender add:

▪️Milk

▪️2 tbsp Amrutam gulkand

▪️Prepared thandai paste

▪️Sweetener (if needed, as Gulkand is already sweet)

Blend well.

 

 

4️. Chill & Serve

Refrigerate for 30 minutes or add ice. Garnish with crushed nuts & saffron.
